Damien’s Journal – 11/16/12

It’s been a while since I posted anything.  A week after we moved into our apartment, our fathers decided to tell us about a stupid tradition that we are supposed to uphold. Every kid in the Knight family, at the age of twenty, goes on a “tour” of the world.  I guess at one point it served its purpose but to me it seems a little redundant.

It’s supposed to be a an opportunity for every Knight that receives an assignment to learn how to keep what we do a secret from those that are not privy to it.  For a month or so we are supposed to go into deep hiding from our family while keeping up the ruse that we are traveling.  I can understand it if you’re still living at home but we’re on our own now so I don’t really get it.  But we’re doing as we’re told.

My father said that kids used to receive their training during this time, but things are different now and the training starts as soon as possible.  With the advancements of technology, travel and communication is quicker and easier to maintain than it was before.  But it also makes staying in hiding more difficult. So Jason and I have taken advantage of this time and we have actually been traveling.  We’ve taken a few days out of the week and have flown to major cities all over the world.  We haven’t done a whole lot other than fly to the cities and then head back home on the very next flight.  Our goal right now is to get to as many cities as we possibly can so that we can transfer back any time we want.  It’s like collecting keys to every major city in the world.  All we have to do is find a safe place to transfer to and we can return anytime we want in the blink of an eye.  It’s pretty amazing.

We’re heading to Rome tomorrow.  I think I’m going to talk Jason into staying for a little while and doing some sight seeing.  It’s Rome after all.
